Robyn and her brother (Gary) did a long-awaited steam train driving course at Castlemaine, Victoria.  The engine, a J Class was then driven to Maldon and after a lunch stop and the engine manoeuvred on the turntable, the train and carriages returned to Castlemaine.  After much shunting backwards and forwards, the carriages were split and put in sheds and the engine returned to its special shed.  Ned got to be a passenger and allowed a short visit 'up front' and permitted to pull the whistle.

The Victorian Railways J class was a branch line steam locomotive operated by the Victorian Railways between 1954 and 1972.
